Freedom of speech is not an option

Freedom of speech is not an option in this god forsaken region of the planet ! This is obvious after having mahmood.tv blocked by the Ministry of DIS-Information ! For those out there who doesn't know about mahmood.tv, this is the number one blog in Bahrain which belongs to mahmood the Godfather of Bahraini Blogs.

I am so depressed with how things are turning out ! Why does such things happen in a country which prides itself on its newly established constitution & freedom of speech law passed by the King? I would be more understanding if this happened in Saudi but NOT in Bahrain ! (No pun intended towards our Saudi brothers)

Although things are looking quite bleak, I've got a feeling that the block wouldn't stand for long ! Fingers crossed guys

Mahmood if you are reading this, you have my support mate !

To be honest, I don't know what's goin on in Bahrain, one step forward ten steps back moto seems to be the thing. Am a strong supporter of freedom of speech and this is just plain disappointing, but yet again, nothing is new.

I have a feeling that this won't last, we'll have to see what happens.

I actually read this article, we're slowly making headlines with this:

Bahrain's Ministry of Information has blocked Middle East news portal Albawaba.com, as well as Bahrain's leading English-language blog, Mahmood.tv. They were among several sites listed for blocking, including two Arab Christian websites and a Kurdish independence site. Bahrain came 111th out of 168 countries in Reporters Sans Frontieres' latest press freedom ranking.

Anya: Hello and welcome to our blog, although your rely came a bit late, well, I guess "it's better late than never" :)

Gazza: Well said mate, well said ! The block is unfair, besides Mahmood never said anything wrong, I've been a frequent reader of his blog for ages and I've never read anything untrue, sectarian or anti monarch ! All these are the usual no nos over here so why they blocked his site, beats me really ! :x Unless it has something to do with bandargate !

It looks like this incident is spicing up from both sides.

Bahrain's government is prosecuting the owners of several blocked websites for breaching a reporting ban on a man who alleged election irregularities, according to Reuters. The Information Ministry said any discussion of the case of Salah Al Bander, who was deported from Bahrain in September after publishing his report, was prohibited. One blocked site, Mahmood.tv, has already moved to a new, unblocked address, AlYousif.tv.

Good to see the issue resolved and Mahmood.tv unblocked. I hope such things don't occur again, enough of the negative publicity.
