US Diary 1: The Big Apple

Everything in this city is audacious and unrepressed, wherever you go, everything is "in your face". With a world class culture, roaring traffic, pulsating architecture and sky-kissing skyscrapers, it somewhat manages to encompass such a remorseless stream of newness and freshness with perfection.

This city is a haven for immigrants. From Little Italy to Chinatown, wherever you go, wherever you look, you see them strolling the alleys and walkways, bringing with them inspirations, innovations and that extra lewdness. From the Empire State Building to Central Park to Times Square, whether its day or night, the clock is always ticking, the options are infinite and boredom is a word that isn't in the dictionary. The only source of limitation is oneself.

After September 11, that extra vulnerability flows through the air. Whether it's joggers in the parks, sellers in the market or people jammed in the subway, everything looks falsely connect but yet, there's a sense of unity. Whether you see it or not, it's lying down under, ready to erupt at any instant!!!

Man, I already miss it a lot!!!
