Stalker or modern lover???
It’s been a while, but it’s always great to be back on the writing scene. I’ll tell you all about my trip in my next post.
Anyways, I was reading one of the papers the other and one article struck me big time. I have never read such a story before, which made it all that interesting and this is why I’d like to share it with you.
This is just a picture of a bored commuter with his mp3 player on the way back home. But wait, for one woman, this is not just any guy. The story goes as follows:
On a typical day, German tourist Melanie Speth was taking a tube journey (a trip to London is never complete if you don’t take the tube ;)) until she encountered the man above. Being very shy, she wasn’t able to go and chat him up, but she did end up taken a shot of him using her mobile. That wasn’t the end for Melanie, there’s no way she’ll just settle for that. What did she do instead???
Launch a worldwide email campaign to find him!!!
Now that’s what I call persistence. This email with his picture has been forwarded to thousands of Londoners with the hope of tracking him down. In broken English, the email read:
“Now I haven’t neither his name, nor his email address, because I don’t had the trust to speak to him! I have only this one picture! And now I am back in Germany and I can’t forget him! That’s why I have this crazy idea! I hope you send this to as much as possible that I find him! And maybe to mingle with him, if he wants this!”
All of this took place between Tower Hill and Embankment, amazing!!! Even experts say this will trigger a chain reaction and might well end in the guy’s inbox.

I’d honestly have to say this is just impressive, crazy and definitely, wild. This brings me to my question: Is she a stalker or just a modern lover??????

I too think that it is more of stocker situation ! If she couldn't talk to him the first place what makes her think that she would be able to talk to him when they meet ? Plus the guy has got this scary look about him, I remember seeing people like him at the underground all the time and think "hmmm gotta watchout for him, he looks dodgy" :P :D``

Actually, I think the guy is quite good-looking. I'd definitely do a double-take and he doesn't look dodgy at all :/ Besides he's got the poppy so it must mean he's got an ethical side.
Still, she's psycho.

ok, i'm going w/ the girls here - maybe that's cuz i am a girl! ;)
anyway, i find this to be terribly romantic. maybe she was too shy to speak to him, but desperately wanted to talk to him. i know the feeling. not that i've done this, because i could never just start a conversation w/ a complete stranger. but i give her credit for trying to find him and at least trying to see if anything could happen.
in the States, i've seen billboards where ppl have put up ads trying to find someone they saw and such. i always thought it was soooo romantic and just filled my heart w/ a love feeling. imagine someone thinking you're sooo attractive or being so interested that they're willing to do the craziest thing to try and find you.
now... if she did find him and he said "no" to her and she continued, then i think that could and would be stalking. but until then, i think she's a romantic at heart. and you know, these are the things that movies are made of!!

tooners: Oh dear ! NOT you too ! OK, I'd have to say if I saw my picture in a "have you seen him advert, the first thing which would come to mind would be it must be one of the b*****ds I call friends, trying to be funny", I bet the guy would think that way too!:D But I guess that it can be romantic if it all works but this is real life and things like that NEVER happen !

Ok, I think this is just plain weird. She should have just got off her butt and talked to him, it would've saved her a lotta of time and effort, I think.

Well regarding the subject it seems that I am losing the battle especially with you girls going for the romantic label which we guys seem to be totally against ! Well some very interesting responses. You know, I think it's very brave and yet very crazy. I'll put myself in the guy's shoe and imagine the same scenario which brought me to this article. On the tube, reading the paper and all of a sudden I see my pic and this chick is absolutely crazy about me, I'll be wow, it'll feel great just due to the fact that someone is sooo crazy about you and people will most likely recognize you when you walk around given that there will be tens of thousands of readers.
As to whether or not this is considered stalking, given the context or whatever was said, I think the girl has a noble cause and given that we haven't heard anything back from the guy, I can't specify at this instant whether it's stalking. I've been through a few experiences which I do consider as stalking, where you get people that have done all the reasearch about you including your parents names and then phone you up at night, bla bla bla.
At the moment, I haven't read any articles that said that they managed to get in touch with each other although by now, am sure that they somehow managed to establish contact with the guy. It's a small world at the end of the day.
Although it would've been so much easier for her to just go talk to him and then get an instant answer as to whether it'll ever go somewhere, I think this only spices up the whole thing and if it does ever happen, it'll be much sweeter.

to answer your question munther, i might be bothered by a guy if he were to do that, but only if he didn't take no for an answer. sometimes guys don't get the hint and won't leave you alone altho you've been kinda obvious about it. but... if i thought he was cute and was single, i might find it rather flattering... but i'm sure i'd wonder what type of person he was and such and prob wouldn't allow him to come to my place and pick me up.
khalid, as far as your having someone do something weird to you... like researching your family and then calling you at night... NOW... that is stalking! that is just weird and i'd probably want to call and get a restraining order!

Gazz, lol man, I do agree with Tooners, you do crack me up too :D.
Tooners, as much as it's scary, it's painful too. To elaborate more on that, imagine, being stalked, researched and then they also demand that you talk to them when you're stone cold towards the whole situation. As much as it feels good to know that people are willing to do crazy and sometimes weird things to get to know you along with being in the driver's seat the whole time, it can be freakin annoying, especially when you get woken up at 3 AM.
