Who would you take ?
Lets say that a virgin planet similar to earth was discovered and the decision to take 5 people to the planet was given to you, who would you pick and why ? Remember the future of the human race is depending on these people !
I'd take:
1- Nelson Mandela of South Africa; because he would put fair, un-raciest and democratic laws.
2- Jamie Oliver (The naked chef) of the UK; future generations will be guaranteed to have decent food from now on !
3- Mahateer Mohammed of Malaysia; will guarantee economic growth for our new settlement ! And will chip in with his political experience to assist Nelson Mandela.
4- Can't find a name but the best doctor on the planet would be needed for obvious reasons ! I'll place an advert for that in major newspapers when the time comes ! :P
5- Eva Longria of the US, to guarantee that people would be beautiful from now on ! Plus we need some eye candy to increase our productivity !
So come on people chip in with your own list of 5 !

i would have to agree w/ your list here, altho... eva??? men, that's all i'll say.
hmmm.. this is a hard list. i'd obviously take my husband and child, and i like your choice of jamie oliver... cuz his cooking is fabulous, and i like nelson mandella as well. that's it for me... makes me think that only 5 is too difficult a choice - maybe it's only for single ppl - this new planet.
btw, eva is about to get married, so she'd prob choose to take tony parker!! ;)

Definitely would not take Jamie Oliver; there are far more talented chefs than him and he acts a prat.

Were going to have to up the numbers here Munther,5 is not a lot for a planet is it?I'd take the Mrs and kids Christopher Authour Snellgrove(taxi driver) coz he never shuts up and their would always be someone to talk to,that would be a double favour coz his Mrs would get a bit of piece lol

This is very tough, 5 people to start a civilization,hmmmm...
The most obvious one for me is a lady, need one for sure. Now since I'll be the ruler, the prospect of future queen will be very appealing to the ladies of this world so I'll run trials to see who'll win in the end. There will be a rigorous set of criteria to determine this.Ok person 1 is sorted.
Person 2 will be the best well-rounded engineer on earth. This guy will be responsible for developing our electronic devices and setting up the communication networks. He will also help with city planning and future expansion. Looking at the current world, he'll most likely be from Japan.
Person 3 will be the best farmer out there. We'll be needing lots of food, so only the best will do. Definately, one that'll be able to grow things no matter what climate we'll be in or whatever type of soil exists.
Person 4 will be the best doctor. I think Moe, if you find him, I'll pay him better than you and bring him on board.
Person 5 will be the father of Finnish economic growth (whatever his name is) to help develop a fast-growing, super-efficient and corruption free economy (Finland ranks 1st on the list of countries with the least corruption and top 3 for innovation).
As for rule, I myself will install a democratic government which will grow organically. As we are 5 to start off with, these people should be sufficient.
That's about it :).

Have you heard of the "second life"site...virtual reality were you can buy an island ,meet ppl and the likes(sort of like the sims i think)
